What Women Really Want

October 16th 2009 01:48
The makers of the iPhone introduced a new application . . . one that seeks to categorize women with a view to using the right "pick up" line. I confess I feel embarrassed to be a man sometimes with this sort of nonsense in circulation! Furthermore, whoever created the "app" needs to re-evaluate his/her particular view of women. I am surrounded by intelligent, qualified women who are not dull, and, would never lower themselves to some fool with the right "pick up line!" Gentlemen, a few things we need to learn about women are as follows:

1) Start getting rid of your "toys" (i.e., those gadgets, hobbies, games, etc.) that absorb your free time. Toys are for children; relationships demand maturity and concentration . . . you're not a child anymore.

2) Stop trying to fix everything and start listening. A woman is not a "project" but a person just like you. Don't be the fool who thinks a woman needs a man because she wants him to fix a problem. Usually, the only thing in need of fixing is a man's perspective of "who" his partner is, and what her needs might be.

3) Stop trying to run from your relationship and start investing in the same. A man should study a woman and know her infinitely better than electronic games, football stats, and beer brands.

4) Stop "making time" for her (as if she were merely another appointment in your schedule), and start looking forward to being with her. We make time to take out the garbage, but we do not look forward to the event, and don't think for a moment that the woman you love can't tell the difference! There is a vast difference between "making time" to do something with someone, and, "taking time" to simply be with someone, in order to do something, or nothing at all (i.e., just talk).

5) Stop trying to be the "Marlboro Man" and start sharing your hopes, fears, dreams, etc. with her. She was designed to receive you, even in your worst moments, so stop denying her this opportunity, and the corresponding privilege you will certainly discover. There is no one (and nothing on the planet) who can receive you better than the woman you love.

6) Stop believing the lie that sex is 90% physical, and 10% relational. You'll never "know" what great sex is until you really "know" your partner, and the latter largely conditions the former. There are many men who will spend a lifetime with a woman they do not know, trying to manufacture a fantasy-experience that does not exist, and perhaps escaping to someone else, who only intensifies the hunger, thirst, etc.

Excellent article, you nailed every point, in my humble opinion! The sad thing about this iphone application is that it'll probably be hugely popular... so many men just don't have a clue.

Just a thought - you should add some pictures to your posts. They tend to be what gets people in, and then your writing will keep them there.
